LINCOLN – TENNIS STRINGER course Saturday 25th July 2026

Suitable for those new to racket servicing or those already stringing and wishing to gain the certification and improve their range of skills and knowledge. For coaches, sports shops, players, parents, juniors through to seniors. Can also cater for SQUASH STRINGER award if preferred. Course members should be able to restring a racket to a professional standard by the end of the course – speed comes later!

9.30am to 5pm – course venue is 30 Malton Road, North Hykeham LN68HR Please bring a packed lunch, refreshments provided FOC.

Machines available to use – RAB Stringmaster1000 manual type, Prince NEOS manual type and PRINCE 6000 electronic type.

6 hours of learning –  6 LTA coach credits- ongoing assessment, no final test – certification awarded at end of day provided sufficient skills, knowledge and effort have been shown.
Restricted to just TWO course members, for better learning support.

Course tutor is Liam Nolan  – UKRSA Founder, former Wimbledon head stringer, USRSA Master Racket Technician.

Morning session – Aims of course – Health & Safety – overview of manual and electronic stringing machines – Tools and their uses – Types and properties of strings – Reasons for strings breaking – tennis racket frame constructions – different stringing patterns – UKRSA Round The World Pattern – What happens when ball meets strings – choosing the right string, thickness and tension for the player – removing the old strings – checking racket frame for damage – mounting racket in machine – starting procedure – correct installation of main strings – Equalising dynamic tensions – Different knots and uses – Installing the crosses, conventional and 50/50 method.

Afternoon session – Review of AM session – Fitting replacement grommet strips and single grommets – Tubing damaged grommets – Replacing grips – Tennis Elbow considerations – Avoiding common stringing errors – Stringing machine maintenance and calibration – Stencilling – Marketing your skills – What to charge, where to buy machines, materials with UKRSA discounts from sponsors.

A very busy yet enjoyable day of learning or upgrading skills and knowledge. Pre-course technical information sent out in advance, post-course support information sent out next day to review progress and next steps, Technical Forum access.

The course is there to get you started or improve on already achieved skills. You can return for FREE to any future similar course for a few hours if you need to refresh skills.

Bring a notepad as its useful, but more important bring your ENTHUSIASM! Selection of FREE strings to take away.
