SUMMARY:2026 summer Workshop - Sunday 30th August. "World Class Basics" LINCOLN - Providing programme of sunshine activities for care home residents.
DESCRIPTION:https://www.rustonsclub.co.uk/conference-room \nThis Workshop will have something for ALL members\, whether new to stringing or an experienced veteran who can share experiences\, plus support a very worthy cause. \nWorld Class Basics – We look at many of the basic racket servicing skills and how to ensure they are done to the highest standards. We all string in a different way and this is your chance to question any and all accepted methods. No use adding pretty icing if the actual cake is falling apart! \nQ&A Session – Discussions from yourselves about all sorts\, you are at the rockface and will have opinions about recent trends in string types\, tensions\, patterns\, machines etc. \nMarketing Your Stringing Service – We have had some excellent presentations in the past\, but what works best for YOU?? I am now back in Lincolnshire but doing 95% BADMINTON as that is what is needed locally. I am aiming to get back to former numbers of squash and tennis from when I last lived here a few years back. \nDifferent machines for different racket sports? – “Electronic better than Manual?” “Frame mounting” Certainly important for me as I am doing mostly badminton and needing to think ahead and allow good access to shared grommets at the shoulders. I am using the Prince 6000 mostly\, but also have the Prince Neos that does not have shoulder support arms\, plus the super RAB SM1000 that has adjustable side supports that allow clear access to the top and bottom shoulders. These and a RAB SM1000 will be set up for anyone to use. \nDunlop Swingweight machine – Will be set up for use\, a chance to chat about varying frame weight\, balance and swingweight\, gripping. \nProblem Rackets – Lets look at what gives you grey hairs.\n\nGetting Out of Jail – When things go wrong\, how can we rescue the situation? You are allowed to weep .. \nStringing Patterns – Lots to chat about here and we will be discussing badminton bottom/up\, top/down\, distortion? I am keen to see what happens on the Prince Neos with a badminton racket at 30lbs and without the usual side arms supports. \nPresenters – This time round we do not have any as ALL proceeds go to Charity – but I am sure that we will have some of you able and willing to keep the day active and alive. The UKRSA has always been all about YOU! So this is YOUR day. That said\, if anyone wishes to present for an hour or so\, let me know.\n\nBring & Buy Any spare stuff? Come along and flog it off! I have a spare Babolat Star 3 machine that needs a complete rebuild\, but no time or space left for the work\, plus many similar Star Two parts and lots of bits in good condition. Needs collecting from my garage close by. £100.\n\nDate for Workshop – SUNDAY 30th August 2026. Coffee and Intros at 9.30am \nFood and refreshments available at the bar at reasonable cost. \nWorkshop polo shirts – I am hoping to get some cotton polo shirts in various sizes printed up\, will bring them along if that happens\, hopefully not too expensive for your pocket! \nCost – £40 – We will be able to hand out some strings etc from our sponsors\, probably enough to cover your £40. \nWhere is your money going? Some of you may already know that my wife Linda is now sadly “lost” to Dementia. 100% of the profits from this Workshop will be ploughed into helping her friends in the care home down in Sussex who rarely get family visits and they will enjoy the unexpected regular supplies of flowers\, chocs\, good/pretty clothing\, cosmetics\, specs\, visits/escapes to local chippy or pub and anything else that may raise eyebrows but also raise their spirits and help them through their daily struggles with dignity and respect. \nPLEASE COME AND SUPPORT – Most families are affected in some way with this terrible illness\, so YOUR contribution will really help. SUMMARY:DONCASTER\, S. YORKSHIRE 1 Day TENNIS/SQUASH Stringer Certificated Course 6 September 2026
DESCRIPTION:Located within the splendour of the Hilton Garden Hotel and with views over the famous Doncaster Racecourse\, the Trophy Room provides a unique place for our Tennis/Squash Stringer 1 day course. \nSuitable for all abilities\, from complete beginners to those already stringing and wishing to enhance skills and knowledge and to achieve the UKRSA Tennis Stringer or Squash Stringer certification.   \nNote you will be selecting EITHER tennis or squash for the day.   Attracts 6 CPD points for LTA tennis coaches if sufficient progress is made. \nManual and electronic machines will be available for your use.  If you wish to use your own machine\, there is plenty of room\, just let UKRSA or your tutor know beforehand so that we can accommodate you. \nThe course fee includes UKRSA membership for the first year and access to the valuable Technical Forum where you can chat with other stringers. \nPre-course technical information will be emailed out in advance.  No “final exam”\, instead there is continual assessment of competence and effort.  If all goes well\, the certificates will be awarded at the end of the day. \nCourse starts at 9.30am and finishes at 4.30pm\, with a short lunch break around midday.   There won’t be formal breaks as such during the morning or afternoon session\, so bring a drink or snack if you might get peckish as we work and feel free to pop to the bar next door to grab a coffee anytime.  If you need to step out for some fresh air for a minute to clear your head (it can be mentally draining!)\, that’s fine too. \n It is recommended that you bring a packed lunch for when we do have a break or make appropriate arrangements.  The Hotel bar and restaurant will be open\, but expect Hotel prices.  Just a 5 minute walk away is the excellent Whitby’s Fish And Chips Restaurant/Take Away. \nFree car parking is available on site.  Drive towards the barrier and it will rise automatically for you. \nYour tutor for the course is Darren Moore.  Darren qualified in 2009\, when he travelled many miles for training\, without really thinking how he was going to get his newly purchased stringing machine home in a Lotus Elise!  On the day\, you’re likely to see that very same machine\, though sadly Darren isn’t talking about the Lotus.  Although Squash is Darren’s main interest\, he can be persuaded to acknowledge the existence of other racket sports! \nDarren and UKRSA look forward to welcoming you on the day.  Places are limited to ensure the quality of the learning experience.  Just click below to book your place now.
