SUMMARY:Badminton Stringer Course – Cheam (close to M25) – Thursday 23rd February 2023
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to relaunch this very popular course for 2023. The venue is 30 Anne Boleyn’s walk\, Cheam\, SM3 8DF . This venue has easy access from the London area and further afield via the M25\, A3 and A217. Off Street Parking is available by prior arrangement. \nCourse tutor will be Martin Creasey who plays at Masters County and International level and already caters for the stringing needs of players of all standards in the Surrey and South London area. Martin has a wealth of knowledge and experience\, so you will come away with a very good understanding of racket servicing for badminton. This course is ideal for stringers who want to focus primarily on badminton. \nThe course is suitable for all levels\, whether a beginner starting off\, or a seasoned stringer wishing to upgrade their skills and knowledge and gain the certification. A certificate will be awarded at the end of the course provided sufficient progress has been made. Those who have a stringing machine already are invited to bring it along to work on if they wish and Martin can check it’s working correctly. Otherwise all equipment will be provided. \nYou will be sent some pre-course technical information which will be very useful on the course and into the future\, plus free UKRSA membership for one year so that you can take part in the discussion on the Technical Forum and also make use of the many UKRSA member discounts on products from sponsoring companies. \nPlease bring a sandwich for lunch. DESCRIPTION:Your course tutor will be Paul Stewart\, one of the UK’s top stringers and coach. He will take you through all of the racket servicing skills for tennis stringing and by the end of the day you will be able to string tennis rackets to a good standard. The course is suitable for those new to stringing\, or those already stringing and who wish to enhance their skills and knowledge. \nYou are welcome to bring your own machine along\, though we will have electronic and manual machines. A familiar machine can help to grasp new skills and knowledge. \nThe course will be run at 20 Woodbridge Close\, Appleton\, Warrington\, Cheshire. DESCRIPTION:Due to family illness\, this event will need to be run later in the year\, many apologies\, Liam \nThis is the first of monthly one-day course aimed at those who are already stringing rackets but who may wish to get things checked out over a busy full day of racket servicing action. Most stringers who have been stringing for some years will not have been through a formal training course. Thats absolutely fine. As long as you are doing things that make sense and keep customers returning\, then good. What we will be doing is checking that all is being done correctly. \nWe will spend time on answering your questions on why things are done in a certain way. What actually happens when the ball hits the strings\, how tensions can affect everything\, how racket frames need protection\, what the professional players demand and why\, how to run a successful stringing business. Its YOUR day to ask questions and hopefully I can give some answers. \nYou can bring along some rackets to work on if you wish\, badminton\, squash or tennis\, though I have plenty here anyway. We will be working on two machines – Wilson Baiardo Lite and the latest Dunlop 3.0. \nYour cost for the day is the usual £199.00 which will include one years UKRSA membership\, free strings to take away\, refreshments and usual biccies and sandwiches etc. \nHEALTH WARNING – I have a 11 months old Staffy pup who will lick anyone to extreme measures! DESCRIPTION:Hi all\, we have – finally – managed to arrange an excellent venue for the next UKRSA Workshop\, followed next day by the Racket Customising course. \nThe first Workshop we ran\, in Milton Keynes was a great success. It was so good for the members to be able to meet up at last\, put faces to names and also learn a few things. Last time round we had the Marketing session run by Paul Stewart and I was glued to my seat as that man knows just about everything there is to know about how to make sure that your skills and knowledge are properly advertised and presented. Makes no difference whether its stringing\, customising or coaching\, presentation and delivery in a professional manner is the key to keeping a good customer base. \nThis is also your chance to chat about your stringing business and share experiences. Its a 9.15 am start with coffee and then a 4.30pm finish. There will also be an evening session to cover Tournament Stringing\, led by David Hall. Anyone already involved in the tournaments or who wish to become involved\, this is for you. \nThe Workshop will be focused on all aspects of stringing – machines\, strings\, grips and you will have your chance to play around on the new Dunlop 3.0 machine. A good chance to ask questions on all aspects of racket servicing. We are also looking for new course tutors\, so don’t be shy! We will be running more Course Tutor training courses later on in Frinton. We will have a good natter re what YOU want from the UKRSA and whether we need to make any changes. \nIf you have any equipment that you wish to sell then do bring it along. I will be bringing two manual machines to sell\, plus bundles of spare strings. \nThe cost for the day will be just £60 and this will include all refreshments\, your lunch and probably enough freebies to cover your cost! \nNext day is the certificated Racket Customising course and your chance to learn about how to alter a rackets weight\, swingweight and balance\, how to match up rackets for specs\, make adjustments to handles\, grips and take frames apart. We will have a selection of machines to use\, including the Dunlop Swingweight and the Prince Precision Tuning Centre\, plus balance boards and lead flying everywhere. Mostly it will be tennis rackets but we also want to include squash and badminton rackets. Certificates awarded at the end of the day. Cost is £199.00. 9.15am through to 5pm. This time round its a one-day Tennis Stringer OR Squash Stringer course. We will be covering all aspects of racket servicing across tennis and squash\, suitable for both those new to stringing or those already stringing who may wish to upgrade their skills and knowledge\, perhaps tennis coaches aiming to achieve 6 CPD points. Ages 12yrs to 112yrs! You can focus entirely on either tennis or squash. \nWe are located on a squash court\, so plenty of room\, refreshments provided\, please bring your own food.  Your tutor for this course is Liam nolan\, UKRSA Technical Director & Founder who is also a squash coach who has played many matches on the court! Resident club stringer and British Open stringer Neil Gridley will also be instructing. \nThose already stringing may wish to bring along their own machine to use. We can then get it checked out\, tensioning calibrated etc. You can bring along some rackets to restring if you wish as we may have enough time. Certification will be awarded at the end of the day providing there has been sufficient skills and knowledge gained. \nThe aim of the course is to get course members able to do all general servicing tasks such as stringing\, regripping\, stencilling\, “problem rackets” and have a good understanding of ball and string dynamics. \nCourse fee includes free strings and grips\, UKRSA years membership so that you can access the various company offers and the excellent Technical Forum where there is a solution to every problem.
