DESCRIPTION:Suitable for those new to racket servicing or those already stringing and wishing to gain the certification and improve their range of skills and knowledge. For coaches\, sports shops\, players\, parents\, juniors through to seniors. Course members should be able to restring a racket to a professional standard by the end of the course – speed comes later! \n9.30am to 5pm – course venue is RUSTONS SPORTS CLUB – NEWARK ROAD\,LINCOLN – https://www.rustonsclub.co.uk/conference-room  \nMachines available to use – RAB Stringmaster1000 manual type\, Prince NEOS manual type and PRINCE 6000 electronic type. \n6 hours of learning –  6 LTA coach credits- ongoing assessment\, no final test – certification awarded at end of day provided sufficient skills\, knowledge and effort have been shown.\nCourse tutor is Liam Nolan  – UKRSA Founder\, former Wimbledon head stringer\, USRSA Master Racket Technician.\nClub Bar will be open for drinks and food. \nMorning session – Aims of course – Health & Safety – overview of manual and electronic stringing machines – Tools and their uses – Types and properties of strings – Reasons for strings breaking – tennis racket frame constructions – different stringing patterns – UKRSA Round The World Pattern – What happens when ball meets strings – choosing the right string\, thickness and tension for the player – removing the old strings – checking racket frame for damage – mounting racket in machine – starting procedure – correct installation of main strings – Equalising dynamic tensions – Different knots and uses – Installing the crosses\, conventional and 50/50 method. \nAfternoon session – Review of AM session – Fitting replacement grommet strips and single grommets – Tubing damaged grommets – Replacing grips – Tennis Elbow considerations – Avoiding common stringing errors – Stringing machine maintenance and calibration – Stencilling – Marketing your skills – What to charge\, where to buy machines\, materials with UKRSA discounts from sponsors. \nA very busy yet enjoyable day of learning or upgrading skills and knowledge. SUMMARY:2026 summer Workshop - Sunday 30th August. "World Class Basics" LINCOLN - CANCELLED.
DESCRIPTION:Not enough members interested\, so I will need to cancel. Cannot wait any longer. Perhaps too far North? We can look at running a similar Workshop down South\, so if anyone interested then let Paul Reilly know. Then we can start the ball rolling. I will use the venue for a Tennis Stringer course and all income will still go towards bringing a bit of happiness to care home residents. Paul will refund your payments\, Liam \nhttps://www.rustonsclub.co.uk/conference-room \nThis Workshop will have something for ALL members\, whether new to stringing or an experienced veteran who can share experiences\, plus support a very worthy cause. \nWorld Class Basics – We look at many of the basic racket servicing skills and how to ensure they are done to the highest standards. We all string in a different way and this is your chance to question any and all accepted methods. No use adding pretty icing if the actual cake is falling apart! \nQ&A Session – Discussions from yourselves about all sorts\, you are at the rockface and will have opinions about recent trends in string types\, tensions\, patterns\, machines etc. \nMarketing Your Stringing Service – We have had some excellent presentations in the past\, but what works best for YOU?? I am now back in Lincolnshire but doing 95% BADMINTON as that is what is needed locally. I am aiming to get back to former numbers of squash and tennis from when I last lived here a few years back. \nDifferent machines for different racket sports? – “Electronic better than Manual?” “Frame mounting” Certainly important for me as I am doing mostly badminton and needing to think ahead and allow good access to shared grommets at the shoulders. I am using the Prince 6000 mostly\, but also have the Prince Neos that does not have shoulder support arms\, plus the super RAB SM1000 that has adjustable side supports that allow clear access to the top and bottom shoulders. These and a RAB SM1000 will be set up for anyone to use. \nDunlop Swingweight machine – Will be set up for use\, a chance to chat about varying frame weight\, balance and swingweight\, gripping. \nProblem Rackets – Lets look at what gives you grey hairs.\n\nGetting Out of Jail – When things go wrong\, how can we rescue the situation? You are allowed to weep .. \nStringing Patterns – Lots to chat about here and we will be discussing badminton bottom/up\, top/down\, distortion? I am keen to see what happens on the Prince Neos with a badminton racket at 30lbs and without the usual side arms supports. \nPresenters – This time round we do not have any as ALL proceeds go to Charity – but I am sure that we will have some of you able and willing to keep the day active and alive. The UKRSA has always been all about YOU! So this is YOUR day. That said\, if anyone wishes to present for an hour or so\, let me know.\n\nBring & Buy Any spare stuff? Come along and flog it off! I have a spare Babolat Star 3 machine that needs a complete rebuild\, but no time or space left for the work\, plus many similar Star Two parts and lots of bits in good condition. Some of you may already know that my wife Linda is now sadly “lost” to Dementia. 100% of the profits from this Workshop will be ploughed into helping her friends in the care home down in Sussex who rarely get family visits and they will enjoy the unexpected regular supplies of flowers\, chocs\, good/pretty clothing\, cosmetics\, specs\, visits/escapes to local chippy or pub and anything else that may raise eyebrows but also raise their spirits and help them through their daily struggles with dignity and respect. \nPLEASE COME AND SUPPORT – Most families are affected in some way with this terrible illness\, so YOUR contribution will really help.
